Culture by Design
Every organization has a culture. Don’t let yours happen by accident.
Design a team culture that moves with intention.

Design the Behaviors That Shape Your Culture.
Culture by Design replaces what accumulates by default with what you reinforce on purpose. Trust, psychological safety, communication, and accountability become deliberately supported behaviors, making your culture an organizational asset rather than an unpredictable variable.
Culture isn’t what hangs on the wall. It’s what gets reinforced every day.

How We Build Your Culture Together
Culture by Design is more than a culture initiative or team-building event. It's a collaborative working engagement that helps organizations intentionally design the behaviors, reinforcement systems, and leadership habits that shape culture every day.
Here's what that looks like in practice:
- Audit and observe. Using The Five Behaviors® as our anchoring diagnostic, we assess where trust, conflict, commitment, accountability, and results are breaking down. Culture problems don't always surface at the level they appear.
- Install the behavioral system. Working alongside your team, we define the specific behaviors your culture requires and build the reinforcement structures that ensure their consistency.
- Build internal capacity. The goal is a culture the team sustains without outside support. When that's the right fit, we train an internal leader to own the reinforcement system so the culture continues to strengthen long after the engagement ends.
Most engagements run a few months. The right scope depends on where the culture is breaking and how deeply it needs to be rebuilt. We'll scope that together.

A Structured System for Designing Culture
A single workshop won't transform your culture. Culture changes when the behaviors people experience every day are intentionally designed, reinforced, and sustained.
1. Define
Foundation
Identify and define the specific behaviors your culture requires. Create a clear standard for trust, psychological safety, accountability, and execution under pressure.
2. Reinforce
Daily Practice
Reinforce and recognize the behaviors you want repeated through leadership habits, team conversations, meeting rhythms, and everyday feedback.
3. Sustain
Long-Term Ownership
Sustain and strengthen the culture by moving ownership from leaders to the team. Build peer accountability so the standard holds under pressure.
The Six Components of a Designed Culture
This isn't abstract work. We focus on what people actually do. These six components are observable, measurable, reinforceable, and most importantly, designable.
Trust
The foundation. Without it, every other dimension collapses.
Psychological Safety
The environment in which people can speak up, disagree, raise concerns, and admit mistakes without fear.
Communication
How information moves, how feedback gets delivered, and how difficult conversations actually happen.
Leadership Consistency
What leaders model is what spreads (and what leaders tolerate becomes the standard!).
Reinforcement & Recognition
Culture strengthens when leaders consistently celebrate the behavior they want more of and address the behavior they don't.
Resilient Connection
Connection that holds when pressure rises, conflict surfaces, or the stakes are high.

Assess with Multi-Science. Not Mood.
Culture feels intangible until you measure the behaviors underneath it. We use validated, multi-science assessments as diagnostic infrastructure for the following:
- Team-level culture: The Five Behaviors® directly diagnoses trust, conflict, commitment, accountability, and collective results. It serves as the anchoring framework for all Culture by Design work.
- Behavioral norms and communication: DISC® reveals how people behave and how those behaviors interact across the team.
- Trust and psychological safety: TriMetrix® EQ measures the emotional intelligence and regulation leaders need to model the culture they're trying to build.
- Collaboration norms: Working Genius® clarifies how work moves across the team and where friction builds when contributions aren't understood.
We use assessments knowing that reports alone don't create change. Application does.

What Changes When You Design Culture
- Connection that holds under pressure. The team reinforces the standard even when leaders aren't in the room.
- Conversations that finally happen. Healthy conflict and direct feedback become part of how the team operates, allowing issues to surface early.
- Safety and accountability working together. People speak up, take ownership, and hold one another to the standard.
- Leaders stop carrying culture along. Managers spend less time policing behavior and more time developing people.
- Culture scales. New hires learn the culture through what they experience every day, not just what's written in onboarding.
- Retention Improves. The culture becomes a competitive advantage that helps attract and retain exceptional people.
Culture by Design FAQs
What is Culture by Design?
A structured, behavior-based approach to building the cultural environment your organization actually needs. We define the specific behaviors that produce trust, psychological safety, and execution; measure where culture currently stands using validated assessments including The Five Behaviors®; and build the reinforcement systems that make designed behavior consistent and self-sustaining.
How is this different from a culture offsite or team-building event?
One-off events create energy. Culture by Design changes the environment. Teams come back from offsites energized and return to the same meetings, the same avoidance, the same inconsistent standards because the reinforcement system never changed. We build that system, so the behavior that came out of the room actually holds.
How is this different from Development by Design?
Development by Design builds individual capability — the behaviors each leader needs to develop and sustain over time. Culture by Design works at the team and organizational level — the environment those individuals operate inside. Both matter; they work best together. A leader can develop excellent self-management in isolation, but if the team environment doesn't reinforce it, it won't hold.
Which assessments do you use for Culture by Design?
- The Five Behaviors® is our anchoring framework for team-level culture — directly measuring trust, conflict, commitment, accountability, and results.
- DISC® reveals behavioral norms and communication dynamics.
- TriMetrix® EQ supports the self-awareness and regulation leaders need to model the culture.
- Working Genius® clarifies collaboration norms and reduces team friction.
Does this integrate with EOS, Scaling Up, or other operating frameworks?
Yes. Culture by Design strengthens the behavioral layer underneath whatever operating framework you run — making trust, safety, conflict, and accountability operate as designed practices rather than personality variables.
How long does culture change take?
Behavioral clarity is fast. Consistent reinforcement takes longer. Most organizations see meaningful shifts in trust and team dynamics within weeks of structured work. Environment-level culture change builds over months as reinforcement holds and the team begins to own the standard.
Stop hoping for the right culture.
Start designing the systems and behaviors that reinforce it.
