Emotional Intelligence Workshop FAQs
What are the four components of emotional intelligence?
The TTI Success Insights® EQ model measures four core competencies:
1. Self-Awareness: Recognizing your own emotions, triggers, and patterns
2. Self-Regulation: Managing your emotional reactions, especially under stress
3. Social Awareness: Reading others accurately and understanding their emotional state
4. Relationship Management: Building trust, giving feedback, navigating conflict effectively
All four work together. High self-awareness without self-regulation means you know you're reactive but can't control it. High relationship management without social awareness means you're applying techniques without reading the room.
How is EQ different from personality assessments like DISC®?
DISC® measures observable behavior and communication style (how you act).
EQ measures emotional competencies (how well you manage emotions and relationships).
They're complementary. DISC® shows what you do. EQ shows how effectively you manage the emotions driving those behaviors, especially under pressure, conflict, or stress.
If you cover both assessments in a single workshop, let's talk about creating a custom workshop for your team.
Can we do this workshop virtually, or is in-person required?
Both work. In-person is preferred for vulnerability exercises, relationship practice, and real-time emotional feedback (it's easier to practice social awareness face-to-face).
Virtual can be effective for individual EQ development and team debriefs. Tracy uses breakout coaching, scenario-based practice, and reflection exercises.
For deep relational work (trust-building, conflict resolution), in-person delivers better results.
What's the difference between the half-day and 1-2 day workshop?
Half-day workshops introduce the framework and concepts. Individual EQ assessment debriefs, introduction to all four competencies, identification of personal EQ development areas, and initial action planning. You'll know where you stand and where to focus.
1-2 day workshops integrate the framework and concept with your team. Everything in half-day, plus deep practice with self-awareness exercises, emotional regulation techniques, social awareness scenarios, relationship management role-playing, and team feedback practice.
Full-day is best for leaders serious about measurable EQ growth, not just awareness.
How long does it take to see emotional intelligence improvements after the workshop?
Awareness happens immediately. You'll recognize emotional patterns and triggers right after the assessment debrief.
Behavior change (consistently regulating emotions under pressure, reading others accurately, managing relationships skillfully) takes 3-6 months of deliberate practice. EQ is a skill that improves with intentional effort, not a fixed trait.
The workshop provides assessment data, frameworks, and practices. Growth requires ongoing application.
Is this workshop for individuals or teams?
Both. EQ development works well in three formats:
1. Individual leader coaching (1-on-1 EQ assessment debrief and development planning)
2. Leadership team workshop (intact team developing EQ together for better collaboration)
3. High-potential cohort (emerging leaders developing EQ as preparation for bigger roles)
Tracy customizes the workshop based on whether you're working on personal EQ development or team-level emotional and relational dynamics.
Take Your Workshop Further
Going beyond a single event, Tracy helps organizations transform their people and their operations for long-term results that stick.
